In the previous section Peter led his readers in a hymn of praise to God who gave them new birth
and revealed their salvation to them. Now Peter calls them and challenges them to a life of holiness. He begins this section with a series of four exhortations to holy living and ends with a beautiful passage, which gives the reason and motive for living such holy lives.
